I know you're not talking to me
Chloe just went over to Spencer and was petting him. Dominic says to Chloe "Chlooooeeee. Be nice." Chloe whips her head around and looks at Dominic with a look that says "Who do you think you are, Mommy? I know you're not talking to me." Then Chloe starts walking towards us and Dominic coughs and covers his mouth. Chloe totally mimics him with a fake cough and even puts her hand over her mouth!! Then she looks at me and smiles...

Protective Brother, Proud Mother
Today we were at the doctor's office for the 2nd time this week. Pink eye has invaded the Powell household. Dominic's right eye was super red on Sunday so I took him to the doc on Monday. It had gotten a lot better (we put some allergy itch relief drops in it) so the doctor said it was not pink eye and most likely allergies since he had been playing in the grass (which he is very allergic to) most of the day Saturday. He didn't have any goo and she said the redness would have gotten worse and not better. Fast forward to Wednesday (today)...Chloe & I wake up in the morning with a red eye and goo. Blech!! Went back to the doctor. Told her there was goo, she took one look at Chloe and wrote us a RX for antibiotic drops that both she & I can use (by the way, trying to get 2 drops in each eye of an almost 14 month old is so much fun I can hardly stand it). Then Dominic had a major fit at skating lessons tonight and as the tears were rolling down his face, so was the goo...lovely. 3 of the 4 have been hit...Dave is the next target!
Anyway, while we were in the waiting room this morning, Dominic was checking out the big fish tank as he always does. There were 2 other boys there standing on chairs also checking out the fish tank. Dominic strikes up conversation with these boys and tells them about the fish. Their mom turns to me and asks how old he is. I say 3 1/2. She said "He's so tall!!! He (she points to one of her boys) is 3 1/2!" Dominic is AT LEAST a head taller than this kid. She then asks if people expect him to act more like a 5 year old since that is the age she thought he was. I said they do and we have actually been guilty of that also. We always assume he should understand things better or act older. Poor kid. He's getting jipped 2 years!! After this conversation the boys head back to the fish tank. Chloe sees them run back and decides to join them. She stands in front of the fish tank and then the younger boy (not sure how old he was) starts to push Chloe and says that was his spot. Dominic sees this and says, very calmly, "Hey. Don't do that. Don't push my sister. That is my sister. Don't do that." He then puts himself in between Chloe and the boy and gently takes the boy's hand and removes it from Chloe's jacket.
I was SO PROUD of him!! If you don't know Dominic, he can be a little aggressive when he gets excited or upset. I was so proud that #1 he was looking after his sister and #2 he did it in a very kind way. He is such a sweet boy! I love him sooooooooooooo much!!

I already suck!!
Wow! I am already horrible at this blog thing! Things are pretty crazy in our lives right now. There is a very high possibility that we will be moving in less than a month. So when I am not working or playing my FB games, my time online is spent trying to find us a home to move into to. Hopefully once the stress of all this is over I will get a little better. :) In the meantime, here are a couple things the kids are doing that have me cracking up. I realize these are probably funnier if you are there or if I am telling you the story in person, but I will share anyway...
Dirty Bit...
A friend of mine at work gave out CD's with her Christmas cards. I listen to the CD in my car when the kids are with me. There is a Black Eyed Peas song called The Time (Dirty Bit) on it. It is very strange because Dominic rarely comments on the music I play in the car. The only song he sings along to is The Right Stuff by NKOTB. As you can imagine, this makes me very happy! :) Anyway, as soon as the song starts, before any words are sung, Dominic says "Mama, what song is this?". Then this voice comes on and says "This is international, big mega radio smasher" and Dominic says "Oh! Smasher!" He & Chloe (both in their carseats) start to dance. Chloe is kicking up her feet with no reaction on her face. So then the song continues. For those that don't know the song, the beginning of the song is Time of My Life from Dirty Dancing. So it gets to the part "And I owe it all to you, You-you-you-you-you-you-you-you-y-y-y-y-y-you... Dirty Bit" This is Dominic's favorite part. He repeats "Dirty bit" and he & Chloe start cracking up and dancing more crazily!! They LOVE it!! So every time they say "Dirty bit" Dominic repeats it and Chloe cracks up and kicks her feet higher. It is the funniest/cutest thing ever! The other day the song came on and Chloe was sleeping. This time, Dominic attempted to sing more than Dirty Bit, but he was singing very quietly because his sister was sleeping. Near the end of the song, he starts talking to me. I think I played the song 4 times that ride. Each time the song ended, he would say "Mama, I try again please?" Now he always asks for the Smasher song. I think that is really funny because they say "Smasher" twice throughout the song. Once at the very beginning and once near the end. They say "Dirty Bit" multiple times and it is his favorite part to repeat, but he doesn't call it the "Dirty Bit" song!
Dominic can do the Robot...
On Playhouse Disney, in between the shows, there is this Robot called Dance-A-Lot Robot and he teaches you different dance moves. I am guessing this is where Dominic got this from. One day, out of the blue, Dominic says "Mama, want to see me do Robot?" and he proceeds to put a funny smile on his face, look with his eyes over to the side, put his hands up by his face and move just his hands. Not his whole arms, just his hands. It is HILARIOUS!!! I know that I MUST get this on video soon!! As soon as I do, I'll post a clip. I have to do this tomorrow or shortly thereafter because he is working on perfecting his Robot and now moves his whole arms. It is still cute although not as hilarious as his original technique.

Let's give this a try...we'll see how long it lasts! :)
When I was thinking about what I wanted to do or try in 2011, I decided I was going to start a blog. When my kids were born I started websites for both of them. I was really good with Dominic's site for the first 2 years. I updated it every month. Once he turned 2, I decided I was going to only update it once every few months. Well, that was a year and a half ago and I have updated the site maybe 2 or 3 times. Chloe's site has not been updated since she was 6 months old. She is now a year and a month old. One of the things that always made me put off updating the site, was going through all the pictures. It's hard for me to narrow down pictures of my kids. I love them all so I want to share them all. The time it took to go through them and upload them made me find myself always saying, I'll do it tomorrow. The other thing was now that I have 2 kids with separate sites, it seemed redundant to share the same stories on both sites. It just felt like a chore and so I stopped doing it.
I was on the phone with my Mom while we were in Disneyland last week and I was telling her some funny things Dominic had said. She told me what she always tells me when I share such stories, "You should write this stuff down!" This time I agreed that I need to capture these sayings and these moments and it made me feel bad for not keeping up with the sites. So I decided to start this. A blog for the family where I may share a few pictures, but not entire albums. I can still share the kids' milestones and the funny things they say and I don't feel like I have to do it at a regular time (like once a month). I can update this as I please, however often I feel like (or don't feel like).
We'll see how this goes...I really hope I keep it up, but only time will tell! Plus I don't really know much about this blogging thing (like what do I do with this "Labels" field) so any suggestions, advice, tips will be greatly appreciated!! :)
