Today we were at the doctor's office for the 2nd time this week. Pink eye has invaded the Powell household. Dominic's right eye was super red on Sunday so I took him to the doc on Monday. It had gotten a lot better (we put some allergy itch relief drops in it) so the doctor said it was not pink eye and most likely allergies since he had been playing in the grass (which he is very allergic to) most of the day Saturday. He didn't have any goo and she said the redness would have gotten worse and not better. Fast forward to Wednesday (today)...Chloe & I wake up in the morning with a red eye and goo. Blech!! Went back to the doctor. Told her there was goo, she took one look at Chloe and wrote us a RX for antibiotic drops that both she & I can use (by the way, trying to get 2 drops in each eye of an almost 14 month old is so much fun I can hardly stand it). Then Dominic had a major fit at skating lessons tonight and as the tears were rolling down his face, so was the goo...lovely. 3 of the 4 have been hit...Dave is the next target!
Anyway, while we were in the waiting room this morning, Dominic was checking out the big fish tank as he always does. There were 2 other boys there standing on chairs also checking out the fish tank. Dominic strikes up conversation with these boys and tells them about the fish. Their mom turns to me and asks how old he is. I say 3 1/2. She said "He's so tall!!! He (she points to one of her boys) is 3 1/2!" Dominic is AT LEAST a head taller than this kid. She then asks if people expect him to act more like a 5 year old since that is the age she thought he was. I said they do and we have actually been guilty of that also. We always assume he should understand things better or act older. Poor kid. He's getting jipped 2 years!! After this conversation the boys head back to the fish tank. Chloe sees them run back and decides to join them. She stands in front of the fish tank and then the younger boy (not sure how old he was) starts to push Chloe and says that was his spot. Dominic sees this and says, very calmly, "Hey. Don't do that. Don't push my sister. That is my sister. Don't do that." He then puts himself in between Chloe and the boy and gently takes the boy's hand and removes it from Chloe's jacket.
I was SO PROUD of him!! If you don't know Dominic, he can be a little aggressive when he gets excited or upset. I was so proud that #1 he was looking after his sister and #2 he did it in a very kind way. He is such a sweet boy! I love him sooooooooooooo much!!
